On this unit we made plaster people. We used wire to shape out the stick man body then wrapped paper around the wire to get a more lifelike body. To shape the man we used plaster like we used on the masks. Once i shaped my man to be sitting i painted him green and made him an alien.

In this unit we did print making. we used linoleum blocks and carving tools to get the shape we wanted out of the block. I looked online for inspiration for my design. I had to use the v-tool and the u-tool to get thinner and thicker lines. I really enjoyed this unit. I think my mountain print came out really good. Looking back i know now what to do differently. Also you have to be very steady while flipping the block and applying pressure so the ink doesn't spread. We used brayers to apply the ink to the blocks.
Our most recent project in Art 1 was out color pencil unit. In this unit we used different colored pencils to show the highlight and depth of the paper. I used shading and highlighting to make my paper look realistic. I used a blue for cool colors and yellow for warm. I would use the cool colors for my shadows and my warm colors for my highlights. The same with my candy drawing.
In Art 1 the most recent assignment has been working with perspective. A specific topic is one point perspective and linear perspective. Linear perspective was first discovered by Florentine architect-engineers Filippo Brunelleschi and Leon Battista Alberti and their followers, was to help remake geometry during the 17th century. For my one point perspective we worked on the cardboard boxes. We made one vanishing point and then draw shapes around the vanishing point then connected all the corners to the vanishing point. Our other project was our wall perspective tape art. It looks like the shape is 3-D but it is actually an illusion. A drawing has one-point perspective when it contains only one vanishing point on the horizon line. For our most recent unit in class we worked with pottery. We made pinch pots, bowls, leaf trays, coil pots, and our own personal project. My personal project was a leaf. Our first project was the pinch pots. We would take clay and gently use our hands to form it into a bowl. For the pinch pot project we didn't use actual bowls to form them we just did it all by hand. Another project was making a coil pot. A requirement was that the pot has to be four inches tall. This project was some what difficult because the elasticity or plasticity of clay would get rough and crack when exposed to too much air so we would have to use water to attach each segment/ new piece of clay with scoring. Scoring the clay helps connect new pieces of clay together. When we first start working with the clay the texture is soft and was easy to work with. The next project we made was the leaf trays. After leaving my tray out for a day the clay becomes leather hard. The clay is still somewhat moist but i can still work with it and carve it to what i would like it to be. One of our other assignments was to make a bowl for empty bowls. After making my bowl and leaving it out for several days it becomes bone dry. One my pottery becomes bone dry it is also greenware, which means it is ready to be fired in the kiln but if i don't like my project at this point i can always add water for it to become elastic again. After my artwork has been fired from greenware it becomes bisque pottery. It can not become clay again so at the bisque stage i will glaze it.
